Comparison of Internet Users by Key DemographicsThe 2009 NADbank study found that 83% of adults 18+ had accessed the internet over the past three months. Similarly, in 2009 the CIUS found that 80% of Canadians 16 years of age and older, or 21.7 million people, used the internet for personal reasons last year, which is up from 73% in 2007. Statistics Canada is the national statistical agency and is therefore recognized as the ‘gold standard’ for measuring the behaviours and lifestyles of Canadians. Truth be told, newspapers are no longer just about newsprint, but printed editions continue to be the most valued channel through which consumers engage with their news.
