2011 Major Markets Will Again Fund Single Year Samples

In order to deal with the economic challenges last year the newspapers made the decision to fund half samples in all markets. In the past, the large markets have funded single year data in order to provide members with up-to-date data on daily newspaper readership. Half samples were funded in all markets and as a result 2010 data will be blended with 2009 results.

Funding half samples was implemented as a temporary measure and newspapers agreed to return to single year data as soon as the economic conditions permitted. At the May Board meeting there was a unanimous decision taken by all newspaper members to fund samples in 2011 similar to those in 2009.
